The school identifies children requiring additional assistance in Literacy and Numeracy through a variety of diagnostic assessments, observations and systemic testing. Class teachers and teacher aides focus on providing small group explicit instruction, pre teaching or re teaching concepts for identified students in the classroom within the curriculum context. With this additional support and time, students often have the ability to access their age appropriate curriculum. In addition, a strong reading volunteer program has been established which assists students with reading. Volunteers are trained in Support-a-Reader, Support-a-Writer and Support-a-Number.
